He conducted voter registration in the rural south and was threatened for his efforts. He led sit-ins at lunch counters in Arkansas. He was a U.S. Marine and a personal aide to a Rockefeller. Now Dr. Ozell Sutton tells his story.
In this riveting account, Ozell talks about being born on a sharecropping cotton plantation outside Gould, Arkansas. He served his country in World War II as one of the country’s earliest black marines. He returned home to take up the non-violent struggle for civil rights. He organized rallies and was later hired as a conciliator for the U.S. Department of Justice. He rose to prominence in this country and tells his story of how he made it 'From Yonder to Here.'
